Granite Commemorates Black History Month by Supporting Local Businesses & Nonprofits

Company Raises $6,600 for 3 Nonprofit Organizations and Hosts Nationwide Luncheon Catered by Black-Owned Businesses

QUINCY, Massachusetts – February 28, 2023 Granite Telecommunications, a provider of communications and technology solutions to businesses and government agencies, today announced that it celebrated Black History Month by hosting a nationwide luncheon at its 12 U.S. offices and raising $6,600 in teammate donations to support three nonprofit organizations that help children in the Black community.

Through the Granite Cares Program, the company’s staff raise funds each week for a single nonprofit organization nominated by a teammate. In celebration of Black History Month, the Granite Cares Program selected two Boston-based nonprofits – MissionSAFE and The Home for Little Wanderers – and the National Black Child Development Institute, which is located nearby Granite’s branch office in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia.

To support and increase the visibility of Black-owned businesses in the communities where its teammates live and work, Granite also hosted lunch for its 2,250 teammates across its 12 U.S. offices with food catered by Black-owned eateries. At its Quincy headquarters, for example, Granite served lunch from Everybody Gotta Eat, a popular catering operation known for promoting Black-owned restaurants in the Boston area.

“It’s wonderful to see the Granite team come together to honor Black History Month by supporting organizations that are playing a role in shaping the futures of our communities,” said Granite President and CEO Rob Hale. “Our team has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to giving back to our communities, so I couldn’t imagine a better way to show our support than by partnering with local entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations.”

Granite has been repeatedly recognized by Forbes on its list of America’s Best Employers, including Best Employers for Diversity. To learn more about the company, visit granitenet.com.
