Granite Raises Funds for Children of Fallen Massachusetts Service Members
Company Hosts Workout and Donates $100 for Every Person Who Joins
QUINCY, Mass., – October 18, 2019 – Granite Telecommunications, LLC
, a $1.5 billion provider of communications solutions to businesses and governmental agencies throughout North America, raised $12,900 for The Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund (MSLF) at a company-sponsored team-building workout at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy. Granite donated $100 for each of the 129 people who participated, which included appearances by members of the Boston Cannons, who call Veterans Memorial Stadium home.
MSLF is a charitable trust that seeks to honor fallen service members from Massachusetts who died while supporting military operations after September 11, 2001, by providing educational assistance grants to their children. Founded in 2004, The MSLF has raised more than $4.5 million to support the educational pursuits of 51 families and 84 children. Granite has given more than $1 million, making it The MSLF’s top supporter and only benefactor to reach “Hero Donor” status, which is the highest tier of recognition for supporters of the fund.
The workout was led by Eric Kapitulik (“Kap”), a former special operations officer in the Marine Corps and founder of “The Program,” a company which provides leadership development and team building services for corporate organizations and collegiate athletic teams. Kapitulik also serves on the Board of Trustees at The MSLF alongside Granite CEO Rob Hale.
“This workout is our way of paying tribute to fallen service members and their families who made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Rob Hale. “Kap runs a grueling workout and from it we emerge stronger as a team every year that we do it, and it feels great knowing that our collective efforts are going towards a common cause that we all care about deeply.”
“Granite has been a devoted partner of The MSLF since we began our work in 2004,” said Peter Trovato, Founder of The Mass Soldiers Legacy Fund. “It has meant so much to our mission to continue to honor the legacy of our local fallen heroes.”
