Dear Valued Customer,

RE:       Implementation of the Rate Center Consolidation Plan becomes final on May 1, 2008 ending the permissive dialing period.

On March 21, 2007, the Louisiana Public Service Commission (“LPSC”) approved the

Rate Center Consolidation Plan (“The Plan”).  The Plan incorporated the following areas

into the New Orleans rate center: Delacroix, Lake Catherine, St. Bernard, Yscolskey,

Buras, Pointe–a–la–Hache, and Port Sulphur.  Venice is remaining an independent

rate center but its area code will be moved from the 985 area code to the 504 area code.

As part of the Plan, the area code boundaries of 958 and 504 have been realigned to absorb certain areas currently in the 958 territory into the 504 territory.  Permissive dialing, which has been in effect since July 29, 2007, has allowed calls to the specified areas to be completed using either area code 958 or 504.  Permissive dialing will end on April 30, 2008.  Beginning on May 1, 2008, calls to Buras, Pointe-a-la-Hache, Port Sulphur, and Venice can only be completed using the new area code of 504.  A detailed list of how these areas will be affected by The Plan can be found on the following page.

For those areas whose area code will be changing to 504, AT&T will automatically be updating your directory listings to reflect the new area code.

*Please be sure to reconfigure any equipment which currently operates with 958 area code to the 504 area code.

Here are some helpful tips for customers affected by the 958/504 area code realignment to prepare for the change:
