Granite Cares About Community
Our corporate culture embraces a community of diversity, and our approach to giving back to the community supports a wide range of causes and organizations. Granite is the flagship sponsor of the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund, a non-profit organization that seeks to honor fallen US servicemen and women who had resided in Massachusetts by paying for their children's college education and other educational expenses.
Granite employees participate in various charitable and community outreach activities including, "jeans days," on which employees can wear jeans and t-shirts with a $3 donation. In 2011, those donations resulted in 66 charities receiving more than $175,000. During the holiday season, Granite employees annually provide Christmas trees and accompanying holiday gifts to ten local families in need.
Our marquee charitable event is our annual Granite Day when Granite hosts a free day of fun and food for local community families, while raising money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In June 2011, Granite celebrated its 9th annual Granite Day and raised over $202,000 for Dana Farber.
Granite has been consistently recognized for its charitable giving by, among others, the Boston Business Journal, which has listed Granite among the area's top corporate contributors in each of the past several years.
